Lola Blanc is a filmmaker, musician, and podcaster whose directorial work has been spotlighted by Pitchfork, Billboard, and Fangoria, and screened at prestigious film festivals like Palm Springs, Fantastic Fest, Fantasia International Film Festival, and Sitges.
Her first short film, In Other Words, co-written with and starring Kenny Lucas of the Lucas Brothers (Judas and the Black Messiah), was her film debut and launched her onto the film festival circuit, premiering at Nantucket Film Festival and screening at a number of fests across the country. Blanc directed and co-wrote the psychological horror short film Pruning, starring Emmy-nominated Madeline Brewer (Handmaid’s Tale, Cam); that film premiered at Palm Springs and won the award for Best Actress in a Short Film at Filmquest in 2023.
Her screenplays have placed in competitions like Screencraft, Austin Film Festival, Stage 32, and more, and been selected as finalists in Nantucket’s Tony Cox Short Screenplay Competition as well as Killer Shorts.
As a music artist, Blanc’s music has garnered hundreds of millions of streams across platforms and has been featured by Paper, Refinery29, Billboard, and more; her song Angry Too has 67 million Spotify streams and counting. She has previously written songs for other artists, including Britney Spears and K-pop superstars Itzy.
Much of Blanc’s work is inspired by her childhood experience believing in a self-proclaimed prophet, including her podcast Trust Me on the PodcastOne network, in which she and her co-host interview survivors of groups like NXIVM, the Manson Family, Heaven’s Gate, and QAnon. The show has received millions of downloads and has been featured by the New York Times and Harper’s Bazaar. In 2023, she was heavily featured as an expert in the Netflix series How to Become a Cult Leader.
As an actor, Blanc has appeared in A24’s Under the Silver Lake and American Horror Story.
